Virtual HKU Three Minute Thesis Competition 2021

If you are a final-year PhD/MPhil/PD student and would like to showcase your research to a general audience and challenge yourself, don’t miss the opportunity to join the Virtual HKU Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition 2021! Explain your research to everybody in simple terms in 3 minutes!

HKU 3MT Competition is an annual event jointly organised by the Graduate School and the Knowledge Exchange Office (KEO) for the final-year research postgraduate (RPg) students and professional doctorate (PD) students. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing social distancing measures and restrictions on public gatherings and travel, HKU 3MT 2021 will be hosted in a virtual format (video submission).

Registration Deadline: 5pm on April 21, 2021 (NO late registrations will be accepted.)
Submission Deadline for 3-minute presentation video and PowerPoint slide: 5pm on May 21, 2021

Champion: US$1270 book prize
1st Runner-up: US$830 book prize
2nd Runner-up: US$450 book prize
Online People’s Choice Award: US$130 book prize

TWO-STEP REGISTRATION

For registration to enter the Virtual HKU 3MT Competition, the following TWO steps must be completed:

[1] Preliminary registration using the HKU Event Management System (EMS):

EMS Registration Deadline: 5pm on April 21, 2021 (NO late registrations will be accepted.)

[2] Each registrant must submit his/her primary supervisor’s completed endorsement form (downloadable at https://www.ke.hku.hk/hku3mt/docs/3MT_Form.pdf) to KEO by 5pm on April 28, 2021 to complete the registration process.
