Publishing in the Science Family of Journal – An editor’s perspective

Effective scientific communication requires both good writing and sound understanding of the publication process. We will discuss a wide range of topics from the perspective of a Science editor that touch on all aspects of the writing process, peer review, and publication process. This includes insights into what makes a successful submission to high profile journals like Science.
Speaker: Brent Grocholski, Ph.D.
Associate Editor, Science
Dr Brent Grocholski, with his research background in experimental high pressure physics, is a physical science associate editor at Science. He handles and edits manuscripts primarily in geology, geophysics, geochemistry, and materials science. Before serving as an editor since 2014, he was a Peter Buck fellow at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution, where he researched the Earth’s rocky mantle. He received his PhD in Earth and Planetary Science at the University of California-Berkeley and was a postdoctoral scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
